The Association of Professional Builders engages in activities that give back to the community and help to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
One of our current charitable initiatives is matching member renewals with donations.
When our members renew their APB membership, they not only get yearly access to world-class coaching, resources and support, they make a positive impact within the community.
APB proudly partners with Orange Sky, a charity dedicated to providing warm showers and laundry services for the homeless. Every time one of our members renews their membership, 5 vulnerable people are helped through Orange Sky’s powerful services.
Orange Sky Australia is the world’s first free mobile laundry service for people experiencing homelessness – an idea founded in a Brisbane garage by two 20-year-old mates, Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett.
In late 2014, the boys installed a couple of washing machines and dryers in the back of their old van and visited parks around Brisbane to wash and dry clothes for free.
What started as an idea to improve hygiene standards and restore dignity to people doing it tough has evolved into something much bigger and more powerful.
Orange Sky doesn’t just provide a laundry service, the team engages in hours of conversations with the homeless community whilst they are having their clothes cleaned.
Each week, all over Australia, thousands of volunteers put other parts of their life aside for a few hours to positively connect with people on the street through genuine and non-judgemental conversation.
The team at Orange Sky also partners with service providers such as food vans or drop-in centres. The Orange Sky community is made up of people who treat others how they want to be treated.
The focus is on creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or who feel disconnected from the community.
